About Patience and Thynk

I created Thynk Leadership Inc. because I am passionate about continuous lifelong learning, particularly for people in leadership positions.  I am also passionate about how people learn, I believe the best learning is active and relevant to the person’s own workplace.  Therefore, I believe that learning opportunities should be designed with the learner at the centre.

As an educator, I have researched, designed, delivered and advocated for learning that focuses on experiential, relevant learning.  I believe that people learn and retain that learning when they have an opportunity to link new learning to something they already know or apply that learning to their own situation.

I live my philosophy of lifelong learning, with academic learning, M.Ed. (Leadership), B.Ed. (Curriculum & Instruction), B.A (Human/ Cultural Geography), and an Instructional Design Diploma. I also believe strongly in lived learning, I have reached out to Elders, to community members, to students and colleagues for conversation, challenges and stories.

My mother is a Jameson from the Upper Similkameen Indian Band. My father was a Norwegian farmer from Saskatchewan. Being raised in a family where those two world views were not always aligned taught me that even if people do not see the world from the same perspective, they can still love each other and live together.   That’s the lesson of consensus.  My life and work experience, both on and off reserve provides the expertise to help organizations to decolonize and reconcile within their communities.  My knowledge, understanding and education provides the foundation which allows me to act as a bridge between world views.
