Ultimately, as a leader, your goal is to have the people who are reporting to you or following you do something… preferrably something that improves your organization and gets the work done.
The best leaders are those that inspire the people who report to them or follow them to be engaged, enthusiastic and doing their best work.
The most obvious question becomes, how do you know if they are engaged, enthusiastic and doing their best work?
That is what goal setting and planning is all about.
